Prince Edward Island child benefit

The Prince Edward Island child benefit (PEICB) is a tax-free amount paid to help low- to medium-income families with the cost of raising children. This amount is combined with the CCB into a single monthly payment.

For July 2026 to June 2027, you may be eligible to receive:

  • $34.16 per month for each child under 18 years of age if your adjusted family net income is less than $45,000;
  • $24.16 per month for each child under 18 years of age if your adjusted family net income is between $45,000 and $80,000.

If your adjusted family net income is greater than $80,000, the amount is reduced to zero.

This program is fully funded by the province of Prince Edward Island.

Prince Edward Island sales tax credit

The Prince Edward Island sales tax credit is a tax-free amount paid to help offset the increase in the sales tax for households with low and modest incomes. This amount is combined with the quarterly payments of the federal CGEB.

The program provides an annual credit of up to $310 for an individual or up to $365 for couples and single parents.

Starting in November 2026, the Prince Edward Island tax credit will be renamed the Prince Edward Island essentials benefit (PEIEB). The PEIEB will offer increased support to help cover essential household expenses. A new minimum payment amount of $175 will also be introduced, ensuring that all Prince Edward Island residents who qualify can receive the benefit, regardless of income. More information is available on the Government of Prince Edward Island website.

This program is fully funded by the province of Prince Edward Island.
