Registration exemptions
Complete one of the following applications for an exemption from registration in PSPC’s CGP.

Security assessments
Complete the following application for a security assessment of owners, authorized individuals, designated officials, officers, directors and employees.
Instructions for authorized individuals and owners being security assessed by the Controlled Goods Program
You must complete a certified criminal record check based on fingerprints or a name-based criminal record check.
For authorized individuals and company owners choosing to submit a name-based criminal record check, PSPC’s CGP only accepts name-based criminal record checks from local police services or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) which have been verified against the RCMP's Canadian Police Information Centre system.
Once completed, submit the results with the security assessment application form. Contact the Controlled Goods Program for more information.
Instructions for designated officials being security assessed by the Controlled Goods Program
You must submit the results of your certified criminal record check based on fingerprints directly to PSPC’s CGP. This report is available from your local police station, RCMP office or private accredited fingerprint company.
Note 2
The RCMP is phasing out their name-based criminal record check process in favour of a system that uses electronic fingerprints to identify individuals.
For security assessment applications of designated officials submitted to PSPC’s CGP, a certified criminal record check based on fingerprints is already mandatory for criminal records checks.
For security assessment applications of authorized individuals and owners, as well as for security assessments of employees by their company’s designated official, PSPC’s CGP recommends that a certified criminal record check based on fingerprints be used to conduct criminal record checks.

Use a Government of Canada or Transport Canada security clearance
To speed up the assessment process, the designated official may choose to accept an individual’s valid:
- Government of Canada security clearance of Secret (Level II) and higher
- Transport Canada transportation security clearance
The use of this form does not negate the duties of designated officials as outlined in section 13 of the Controlled Goods Regulations
