If you applied to the Vaccine Injury Support Program
What you need to know
If you previously applied to the Vaccine Injury Support Program (VISP) and haven't already received a decision on your application, your application is active and will be reviewed under the Vaccine Impact Assistance Program (VIAP).
- You do not need to reapply unless you are contacted by the Program and instructed to do so.
- Your application number remains the same.
- Documents you previously submitted remain part of your file.
If you're receiving financial support, your eligible payments will continue in accordance with the VIAP Policy Framework.
Information related to your application will be communicated either:
- through the claimant portal
- by mail
- by phone with a Government program representative

Starting July 1, 2026, the claimant portal is available as an online tool to support your claim application.
When you create an account in the claimant portal, you’ll need to:
- provide your VISP claim number, if you know it
- upload a copy of your valid government-issued ID, examples:
- driver’s licence
- Canadian passport, or
- provincial or territorial ID card
- use the same email address you used for your VISP claim, if possible
- confirm whether you’re the claimant or an authorized representative
- select “Yes” when asked “Have you ever submitted a claim under the Vaccine Injury Support Program?”
If you’re an authorized representative, you’ll also be asked to provide information about the vaccine recipient you represent.
Once we confirm your information, you’ll receive an email with a link to verify your email address. You’ll also be asked to create a password to access your account.
Through your account, you can sign into the portal and view your claim information, including:
- your claim stage
- any new mail we send
If you registered for a VIAP portal account between April 1 and June 30, 2026, you’ll need to:
- create a new account
- re-link your VISP claim because the portal has been updated since you first registered

If you started a Vaccine Injury Support Program application
We encourage you to apply to the Vaccine Impact Assistance Program (VIAP) using the VIAP forms. However, if you already started working on a Vaccine Injury Support Program (VISP) application, you don’t need to start over. You can continue to use the VISP Intake Form and Medical Assessment Form to apply to the VIAP.
For the VIAP to accept your VISP forms, you must:
- complete and sign your VISP forms
- send them by mail or submit them through the online claimant portal by 11:59 pm local time on October 1, 2026
If you don’t mail or submit your VISP forms by this deadline, you must apply using the VIAP forms instead.
