We’re prioritizing people travelling within 10 business days to make sure they get their official passport on time.
The service standard for a special or diplomatic passports is 15 business days. This is our commitment for processing your application in normal circumstances.
Getting a foreign visa can take another 3 to 45 days. It depends on the country. We have no control over the time it takes them to process your visa.

Return your passport for safekeeping after you travel
Your passport is the property of the Government of Canada at all times.
After you travel, return your special or diplomatic passport(opens in a new tab) , unless your department can safekeep the passport(opens in a new tab) . You can get it back when you need it for another official trip.
