Payments
The tax payable in respect of a fiscal year must be paid on or before the GloBE Information Return (GIR) due date for the fiscal year.
How to pay the tax
There are two payment options available for paying the Global minimum tax:
- Wire transfers
- Online payments through your bank or credit union starting May 11, 2026 (check availability with your financial institution)
Wire Transfers
Contact your bank or credit union to initiate the wire transfer.
Scotiabank processes wire transfers in Canada and does not charge any fee for forwarding your wire transfer to the CRA.
You must make all wire transfers to the CRA in Canadian dollars.
You may be charged a fee by your financial institution for this service. Make sure that your financial institution does not deduct the wire transfer fee from the total payment amount due as this will result in an underpayment of tax.
Send your remittance details
After sending your wire transfer, provide your remittance details to the CRA's Revenue Processing Section by fax to 204 983 0924.
The remittance details must contain the following:
- Name of the business making the payment
- Global minimum tax program account (PT) number of the payor
- Name, position or office, telephone number and extension of the primary contact of the payor
- Date of the payment
- Amount of the payment
- Fiscal year to which the payment applies
If an appointed entity makes a payment on behalf of other members in the group, please include the following information for each member:
- Business name
- PT program account number
- Amount of the payment allocated
For more information on how to make a wire transfer, refer to: Pay at a bank or credit union through wire transfer.
Pay online with your bank or credit union
You can make a payment or schedule future payment(s) to the CRA directly by logging in to the online banking site or mobile banking app of most Canadian banks or credit unions.
Check if your bank or credit union supports online payments to the CRA for businesses.
Sign in to your bank or credit union’s tax filing service or online banking service for businesses.
Make sure you select the correct option under “add a payee” so the CRA applies your payment correctly.
Follow the instructions which would include entering your PT program account number.

Failure to pay the tax
If you fail to pay an amount, interest will apply from the day your payment was due. The interest rate we use is determined every three months, based on prescribed interest rates. Interest is compounded daily.
For more information, refer to: Prescribed interest rates.
