COVID-19 and the impact on services for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections: Survey among service providers
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected healthcare delivery due to public health measures and health system capacity. Between November and December 2020, we conducted an anonymous online survey of service providers in Canada about their ability to deliver sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection (STBBI) related healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Survey respondents included:
- public health units
- community-based organizations
- other service providers who directly provide STBBI-related services, including:
- harm reduction services
- substance use and treatment services
In total, 416 service providers from across Canada participated.
The collected information will be used to document unintended consequences of the COVID-19 public health measures on STBBI services, including how services were adapted. The survey will provide valuable information to analyze STBBI trends, inform policy and improve services in Canada.
