How is chikungunya diagnosed?
Health care providers diagnose chikungunya based on:
- your symptoms
- laboratory test results
- what time of the year you were likely bitten
- what area of the world you were in when you were likely bitten by a mosquito
How is chikungunya treated?
Chikungunya has no specific treatment. Medication may help to relieve some of the disease symptoms, such as reducing:
- pain
- fever
- inflammation (swelling)
