We aim to give a funding decision within 90 business days 90% of the time after the closing date for a call for Expressions of Interest or after receiving a complete proposal.
After submitting your Expression of Interest (EOI), you can check its status in our application portal.
Only the best projects meeting Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative goals will succeed to the next application step. Success at any stage does not guarantee funding.
We will assess EOIs and full applications based on:
- eligibility for the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative
- alignment with PacifiCan priorities such as producing broad benefits for British Columbians
- clear economic benefits for British Columbia
- financial capacity
- management capability
- market demand and performance
- technology readiness
- approaches to data security and governance
- plans to ensure responsible development and deployment of AI
A technical assessment may be done by the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) or another external party contracted by PacifiCan.
