About this work permit

Status: Open for applications, starting January 1, 2024

If you’re a Quebec investor who’s received a Quebec Notice of Intent to Select, you’re eligible for an open work permit to work in Canada. Your Quebec Notice of Intent to Select letter is valid for 6 months.

This open work permit will allow you to work for any employer in the province of Quebec.

Your work permit is valid until one of the following dates (whichever comes first):

• 3 years from the date your work permit is issued or
• the expiry date of your passport

Your work permit will be issued when you enter Canada and won’t be valid beyond your passport’s expiry date.

Extending your open work permit as a Quebec investor

You can extend your open work permit as a Quebec investor only once you’ve received your Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).

Your CSQ must

• be valid at the time you apply for a work permit, or
• have been valid when you applied for permanent residence and the application is still being processed

This one-time work permit extension will be valid for up to 2 years.
