Who has to take the oath

Find out who must take the oath of citizenship at a citizenship ceremony:

Applicant’s age (when taking the oath)	Do they have to take the oath?
Adult (18 and above)	Yes
Minor 14 to 17	Yes If possible, we highly encourage the parent or guardian who applied for the minor to attend the ceremony to help the minor answer questions.
Minor under 14	No, but they’re welcome to attend the ceremony. If they attend, the parent or guardian who applied for the minor must be at the ceremony.
