• Canada is taking back control of our immigration system and returning overall immigration to sustainable levels. At the same time, we know families are strongest when they are together, and we remain committed to family reunification.

Wait times for Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) and family reunification

• The Parents and Grandparents Program and family class applications are processed within the 2026–2028 Immigration Levels Plan.
• Demand continues to exceed available spaces, which leads to longer processing times.
• To manage demand, we limit PGP intake to invitation periods.
• Since 2020, invitations have gone to those who submitted an interest form in 2020.
• We are also modernizing processing through digitization and automation to improve efficiency.
