COW – Uyghurs – May 28, 2026
- We're deeply concerned about human rights violations against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim communities in Xinjiang, China.
- Many who have fled China still face serious risks, including forced return or deportation.
- The government is resettling Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims, identified by refugee referral partners, as part of the refugee spaces in the Immigration Levels Plan
- We continue to receive and process applications. As of March 31, 2026, we identified applications for almost 875 Uyghurs, of which almost 280 arrived in Canada.
- This is a complex initiative, and safety remains our top priority. For this reason, we can only share limited operational information.
