Program delivery update: Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP), caring for children class and caring for people with high medical needs class

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

June 11, 2019

The instructions for the Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP), caring for children class and caring for people with high medical needs class have been updated.

The changes include

  • removing references to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville (CPC-V), as the CPC-V is closed
  • updating the medical examination instructions for the caring for children and caring for people with high medical needs classes, as applicants are no longer encouraged to submit their medical results upfront with their application (the processing office must instruct the principal applicant and their family members to undergo medical examinations)
  • providing officers with additional instructions regarding the processing of overseas family members, including case processing centre triage criteria (available internally only) to determine if a verification activity should be assigned to an office overseas as well as the referral procedure for initiating an inter-office verification activity
