Pulse oximeters: Health Canada’s role

Health Canada continues to work to address accuracy issues with pulse oximeters. This work includes:

• monitoring all reported adverse events and complaints
• taking regulatory action related to these events and complaints if necessary
• engaging with our international counterparts and monitoring the development of standards to ensure that Canadian regulatory requirements align with the best scientific information and approach for these devices
