Follow-up activities
Although 2,4-PD is not considered to be harmful to human health or to the environment at current levels of exposure, this substance is associated with effects of concern. Therefore, there may be a concern if exposures were to increase. For this reason, this substance may be considered in future initiatives to track its commercial status or identify new uses or exposures.

Information gathering
Section 71 CMP 2023
In June 2023, a notice was published in the Canada Gazette, Part I: Vol. 157, No. 25 – June 24, 2023 under section 71 of CEPA. This notice applies to MEK (CAS RN 78-93-3) and MIBK (CAS RN 108-10-1). Background
In the draft assessment, 2,4-PD was identified as a concern for human health based on its presence in a limited number of products available to consumers. Further investigation confirmed that 2,4-PD is not currently available in products available to consumers. Therefore, the final assessment concludes that 2,4-PD is not considered a concern for human health at current levels of exposure.
