Information gathering with respect to certain substances under the Chemicals Management Plan

The Government of Canada is collecting information for the purpose of prioritization, risk assessment, and risk management. Information will be gathered on the commercial status, facility information (for example, releases), and uses of these substances in Canada, pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA).

Section 71 Chemicals Management Plan (CMP) 2026 – Phase 1

In August 2026, a notice was issued in the Canada Gazette, Part I: Vol. 160, No. 35 – August 29, 2026 under section 71 of CEPA. This notice applies to 184 substances.

  • Reporting period begins: August 29, 2026
  • Deadline to report: March 3, 2027

Section 71 CMP 2026 – Phase 2

In August 2026, a notice was issued in the Canada Gazette, Part I: Vol. 160, No. 35 – August 29, 2026 under section 71 of CEPA. This notice applies to 16 substances.

  • Reporting period begins: March 4, 2027
  • Deadline to report: September 8, 2027

In June 2023, a notice was issued in the Canada Gazette, Part I: Vol. 157, No. 25 - June 24, 2023 under section 71 of CEPA. This notice applied to 850 substances. The deadline to report was January 17, 2024.
