Proposed fees for natural health products: Consultation process
Health Canada’s focus is on advancing the policy and regulatory changes set out in Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada’s report on red tape reduction. Cost recovery will be revisited once the program adjustments have been made as these will impact the NHP program costing model. As a result, the implementation of cost recovery for natural health products will not begin on December 1, 2025 as indicated in the proposal.
Health Canada is committed to meaningful consultation.
For this fee proposal, the consultation ran for 90 days, starting on May 12, 2023.
Stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide feedback and identify concerns about this fee proposal through an online comment form. This form will be available throughout the consultation period.
We will also be offering additional engagement opportunities to support participation in this consultation.
Once the consultation period ends, Health Canada will:
- collect and review the comments before finalizing the fee structure
- publish the feedback, along with our response, at a later date
