Controlled Substances and Cannabis Branch
The Controlled Substances and Cannabis Branch's mandate is to reduce or prevent the harms associated with the use of substances in Canada. The branch works towards this mandate by:
- taking a comprehensive public health approach to substance use, and addressing emerging challenges
- providing information about substance use to help Canadians make informed decisions about their health
- controlling and regulating substances, based on high-quality scientific research (under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Cannabis Act and Tobacco and Vaping Products Act)
