Deadlines and most recent changes: National Pollutant Release Inventory
This page summarizes changes to the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) reporting requirements for the 2025, 2026 and 2027 reporting periods.

Reporting deadline
2025 calendar year: The deadline is June 1, 2026.
2026 calendar year: The deadline is June 1, 2027.
2027 calendar year: The deadline is June 1, 2028.
Changes to NPRI substances
Changes were made to the NPRI substance list for the 2025-2027 reporting periods:
Substances added
You may need to report releases, disposals and transfers of these substances:
- per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
- Basic Violet 3 (Chemicals Abstract Registry Number[CAS RN] 548-62-9)
- Basic Violet 4 (CAS RN 2390-59-2)
- Basic Blue 7 (CAS RN 2390-60-5)
- MAPBAP Acetate (CAS RN 72102-55-7)
- benzothiazoles that can form 2-mercaptobenzothiazole
- long-chain aliphatic amines

Changes to reporting thresholds and previously listed substances
We have changed the reporting requirements for these substances:
- the threshold for reporting C.I. Basic Green 4 (CAS RN 569-64-2) was lowered:
- 100 kg manufactured, processed, or otherwise used
- 1% concentration threshold
- C.I. Basic Green 4 was also renamed Malachite Green
- the threshold for reporting ethylene oxide (CAS RN 75-21-8) was lowered:
- 1 kg manufactured, processed, or otherwise used
- 0.1% concentration threshold
- you may need to report releases of ethylene oxide if you do activities related to the education and training of students
- the threshold for reporting hydrogen cyanide (CAS RN 74-90-8) was lowered:
- 1 000 kg manufactured, processed, or otherwise used
- 0.1% concentration
