Code of practice for the management of air emissions from pulp and paper facilities: chapter 4

4 Annual air emission limits

Pulp and paper facilities should limit their annual sulphur dioxide (SO2) and total particulate matter (TPM) emissions to the following:

  1. In the case of a chemical facility:
    • 4.0 kg of SO2/tonne of production
    • 2.0 kg of TPM/tonne of production
  2. In the case of a mechanical facility:
    • 1.5 kg of SO2/tonne of production
    • 0.5 kg of TPM/tonne of production

Note: The limits may be implemented voluntarily by the industry but do not negate any other regulatory requirements that may apply.

Refer to Appendices 1, 2 and 3 for calculations.
