Code of practice for the management of air emissions from pulp and paper facilities: appendix 1

Appendix 1: calculation of annual air emission limits

The annual limits of SO2 and TPM emissions from the facility should be calculated as follows:

Annual limits = I × P

where:

P is annual production calculated in accordance with Appendix 3, expressed in tonnes of production, and

I is the base level emission requirement, as follows:

  1. In the case of a chemical facility:
    • 4.0 kg of SO2/tonne of production
    • 2.0 kg of TPM/tonne of production
  2. In the case of a mechanical facility:
    • 1.5 kg of SO2/tonne of production
    • 0.5 kg of TPM/tonne of production
