Employers: Workplace harassment and violence occurrence – If you violate the Code or the Regulations

4. If you violate the Code or the Regulations

Ensure that you have followed the steps to resolve the occurrence with the complainant.

You or the designated recipient must follow the requirements outlined in the following when responding to a notice of occurrence of workplace harassment and violence:

  • the Canada Labour Code (the Code), and
  • the Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations (the Regulations)

If your employees believe that you or the designated recipient did not follow the requirements of the Code or Regulations, the employees must follow the steps to resolve the issue. If the issue is not resolved, employees are entitled to file a complaint to the Labour Program.
