What CJFC does
The Canadian Joint Forces Command (CJFC) will lead, integrate, and deliver joint capabilities that strengthen the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) readiness and enhance operational advantage.
Joint capabilities are military functions and resources that are essential across all branches of the armed forces, and enable operations in all five CAF domains:
- land
- sea
- air
- cyber
- space
The Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army, and the Royal Canadian Air Force develop and manage their individual environmental capabilities. CJFC does the same for joint capabilities.
CJFC helps Canada's military stay ready in a complex global security environment. It brings together people, systems, and expertise from across the CAF to build and manage the joint capabilities needed to protect Canada and support our allies.
CJFC focuses on:
- developing and sustaining joint capabilities such as logistics, health services, military police, joint engineering, joint doctrine, and joint force development of specific multidomain systems.
- driving integration and interoperability across all domains
- supporting readiness, resilience and relevance in line with Canada's defence priorities.
CJFC addresses gaps in how joint capabilities are generated, developed, managed, and sustained. It enables a centralized approach to improve coherency, accountability, and innovation at the edge.
By integrating joint capabilities, CJFC equips the CAF to:
- operate cohesively across domains
- respond rapidly to complex threats
- collaborate effectively with allies
CJFC is designed to be flexible and forward-looking. Its structure and processes will continue to evolve to:
- meet future security challenges
- integrate new technologies
- respond to changing operational needs.
This commitment to change ensures that CJFC stays relevant and effective in a changing global environment.
