VAdm Charlebois
Commander and Camille Lajoie Riel
Hello,
I am the Vice-Admiral Charlebois, Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, and I have the great privilege of serving as the Defence Team Champion for the 2026 National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign (NDWCC). This year, I am proud to welcome Camille Lajoie Riel from Assistant Deputy Minister Digital Services — Transformation (ADM[DS-T]), who will serve as the NDWCC Youth Champion. The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is pleased to participate in the NDWCC and will be represented by Kathy Nghiem as its campaign champion.
We are pleased to announce that our campaign will officially launch on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in the National Capital Region. To learn more about the launch and other local activities, please visit the Events section of the NDWCC website .
Earlier this year, we selected the slogan “Together, Building Stronger Communities!” This slogan serves as an important reminder that the Campaign encourages Defence Team and Canadian Coast Guard members and employees to contribute in ways that go beyond financial donations: volunteering, participating in events, raising awareness, and engaging more meaningfully. Your contributions can help feed families, support mental health programs, fund life-saving research, and much more. When we work together, meaningful change is within reach.
To celebrate this year’s theme, and inspired by last year’s national new activity contest, we invited employees and members from across the country, including the Canadian Coast Guard, to submit their favourite recipes, helping create the NDWCC Cookbook. This special collection, which will be available for purchase this fall, will showcase the diverse flavours and stories that bring us together.
There are many ways to join the Defence Team and the Canadian Coast Guard in supporting the NDWCC and raising funds for various registered Canadian charities. You can make a personal donation, volunteer with your organization, base, wing or ship, or Coast Guard unit, organize local activities, or participate in existing events.
This year, donating is easier than ever. Beginning September 10, 2026, all Defence Team and Canadian Coast Guard members and employees will be able to make donations online through the e-Pledge platform, which allows donors to select the registered charity or charities they wish to support.
Each, your generosity helps make the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign the successful workplace fundraising campaign in the country. In 2025 alone, more than $27.3 million was raised nationally, including $2.1 million from the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Coast Guard. Beyond financial contributions, DND and CCG members and employees has continued to support their communities through volunteer efforts and participation in national operations such as Operation LENTUS.
Remember that no donation is too small. Every dollar given truly helps Canadians in need.
Thank you for your attention and support!
