From Offender to Responsible Citizen: Learning for Life - Activities

1. As we have realized, offenders' personal management of their emotions and reactions are key to their reintegration into the community. Based on your own experience, can you describe an event where you reacted impulsively and aggressively, and explain the consequences of your reaction.

2. Discuss the importance of education in our society.

Note to teacher : Highlight the impact of lack of a high school diploma on the past, present and future lives of offenders. Lead students to discuss, from their viewpoint, the importance of their own education.

A meeting, focusing on these programs, with a former inmate and/or a worker.
