Why you need to register your beacon

Registering your 406 MHz beacon is required in most situations and is extremely important for search and rescue teams. When you register your beacon, you provide the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) with your contact information, your emergency contacts, and details on how you use the beacon.

When a beacon activates, the JRCC must make quick decisions to save lives. The more information you include when you register your beacon, the better equipped the JRCC will be to respond quickly and accurately during an emergency.

Registering your beacon is free and only takes a few minutes. Support is available through the Canadian Beacon Registry if you need help with the process.
