Sharing ideas: 2SLGBTQI+ community needs
Current status: Closed
This consultation ran from July 9, 2026 to August 31, 2026
Launched in August 2022 with a $100-million investment over five years, the 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan was Canada’s first whole-of-government strategy to advance equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities. The Federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan, led by Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE), focused on six priority areas. The following sections outline the progress made on each of these priorities:
- Prioritize and sustain 2SLGBTQI+ community action
- Continue to advance and strengthen 2SLGBTQI+ rights at home and abroad
- Support Indigenous 2SLGBTQI+ resilience and resurgence
- Engage everyone in Canada in fostering a 2SLGBTQI+ inclusive future
- Strengthen 2SLGBTQI+ data and evidence-based policy making
- Embed 2SLGBTQI+ issues in the work of the Government of Canada
About the consultation
Women and Gender Equality Canada invited people across Canada to share their experiences and ideas on how 2SLGBTQI+ communities can be supported.
This consultation sought perspectives on emerging and persistent gaps, priorities, and opportunities to advance 2SLGBTQI+ issues and reflect the evolving needs, lived experiences, and collective aspirations of 2SLGBTQI+ communities from coast to coast to coast.
