Judy Rebick

Judy Rebick is a celebrated journalist and political activist. Born in Reno, Nevada, she moved to Toronto with her family at the age of nine. Rebick came to prominence in the 1980s as a pro-choice leader and advocate for women's rights. From 1990 to 1993, she was president of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women. From 1994 to 1998, Rebick co-hosted a popular political debate show on CBC Newsworld. Known for her wit and passionate commitment to feminism, she went on to host "Straight from the Hip," a women's discussion show, and was a regular CBC commentator in the late 1990s. In 2001, she helped launch rabble.ca, an online multi-media news and discussion site, serving as its publisher until 2005. A widely published freelance journalist, Rebick is the author of three books, Ten Thousand Roses: The Making of a Feminist Revolution (2005); Transforming Power: From the Personal to the Political (2009) and Occupy This (2012).

“If you live on this planet, in this time in history, you need to do something about it. It’s not good enough to just live your life.”
