Notice to all civilian and regular members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police regarding the request to the Office of the Pay Equity Commissioner to extend the deadline to post a final pay equity plan
Date: August 14, 2026
On , the Pay Equity Commissioner conditionally approved the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s (TBS’s) request for more time to complete and publish its final pay equity plan for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) members. TBS now has until , to post the plan. The extension is being granted in six-month periods rather than all at once. To keep the extension, TBS must show clear and measurable progress on the plan every six months.
The RCMP pay equity committee, which comprises employer, unionized RCMP member, and non-unionized RCMP member representatives, continues its diligent and collaborative work to develop the pay equity plan.
Regardless of the timing of the plan’s completion, any pay equity adjustments owed will be payable retroactive to , and will include compound interest, as required under legislation.
TBS is committed to developing a pay equity plan that proactively redresses systemic gender-based discrimination in pay practices and ensures that women receive equal pay for work of equal value. This effort supports the Government of Canada’s commitment to building an inclusive public service.
For the decision rendered by the Pay Equity Commissioner, consult the letter of decision.
