Contribution rates for the 3 major public sector pension plans

Contribution rates for the public service, the Canadian Armed Forces – Regular Force and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) pension plans change every January 1. These changes ensure proper funding of the public sector pension plans.

As a plan member, a portion of your salary goes toward your pension through payroll deductions. The rates at which you pay are based on your salary up to and above the year’s maximum pensionable earnings (YMPE).

The YMPE is $74,600 in 2026 ($71,300 in 2025).
