Salary increment for a part-time employee - Information Notices

DATE:

TO: Compensation Managers
Chiefs of Staff Relations

This bulletin provides information on the transitional implementation of salary increments for part-time employees. During the recent round of negotiations, the provision for the qualifying period in some collective agreements was changed to match the qualifying period for a full-time employee.

Groups with salary increments based on weeks

A part-time employee in a classification level where the new salary increment period is now twenty-six (26) weeks, and the last salary increment under the previous provision was twenty-six (26) weeks or more from the date of signing of the agreement, will receive a pay increment effective on the date of signing. The next salary increment will be calculated from this date.

A part-time employee in a classification level where the salary increment period is now fifty-two (52) weeks, and the last salary increment under the previous provision was fifty-two (52) weeks or more from the date of signing of the agreement, will receive a salary increment on the date of signing. The next salary increment will be calculated from this date.

Groups with salary increments based on months

A part-time employee in a classification level where the pay increment period is now six (6) months and the last pay increment under the previous provision was six (6) months or more from the date of signing of the agreement, will receive a pay increment effective on the date of signing. The next salary increment will be calculated from this date.

A part-time employee in a classification level where the pay increment period is now twelve (12) months and the last salary increment under the previous provision was twelve (12) months or more from the date of signing of the agreement, will receive a salary increment effective on the date of signing. The next statutory increase will be calculated from this date.

Departmental Compensation and Staff Relations managers should direct any questions that they may have to their corporate Compensation officials who, if need be, can contact the Pay Administration Section.
