Watch Your Step! Avoiding Tricky Translation Traps (SFE-231)

This course is offered in English only and is reserved for people translating or revising French-to-English texts.

Category
Professional training
Description

Translators know that translation from French to English is fraught with danger. False friends, syntactic Gallicisms and interference are just some of the translation traps that can lead to a poor-quality final product. Machine translation tools can fall into these traps, too. So what is a translator or reviser to do?

In this workshop, we will look at some common translation problems that are challenging for translators and machine translation tools alike. You will learn ways to avoid these traps when translating and revising, no matter who or what translated the text.
