Victim Notification

Victim Notification

By registering with the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) or the Parole Board of Canada (PBC), victims are entitled to receive the following information:

  • the offender's name;
  • the offence for which the offender was convicted and the court that convicted the offender;
  • the sentence start date and length of the sentence that the offender is serving; and
  • the offender's eligibility and review dates for unescorted temporary absences, day and full parole, and statutory release.

This information can also be accessed online, by registering via the Victims Portal.

Victims may request other types of information that is available through CSC and the PBC if it has been deemed that the victim’s interest in receiving it outweighs the need to protect the offender’s privacy. In most cases this information is provided to victims.

For a list of the types of information available to victims, see CSC’s Victim Notification page or PBC’s Receiving information page. Register to receive victim notifications.

As a registered victim, you may withdraw your request for information regarding an offender at any time. To do so, contact the nearest CSC office or contact the nearest PBC office to you. If you have registered via the Victims Portal you may also withdraw your request via the Victims Portal.
