Repayment Assistance Plan for Borrowers with Disabilities
If you have a disability, you may qualify for the Repayment Assistance Plan for Borrowers with Disabilities (RAP-D).
This plan could lower your student loan payments for 6 months. You can also submit disability related expenses that may help lower costs. You may even qualify for no payments at all.
Eligibility
You may qualify for RAP-D if you:
- live in Canada or:
- are a reservist or spouse of a reservist deployed abroad, or
- are on an international internship for a year or less
- have loans in repayment
- are up-to-date on your loan payments
- fall within the income thresholds, and
- have a disability that is recognized by the Canada Student Financial Assistance Program

Borrowers can apply for RAP-D:

Apply online through the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC)
Login to NSLSC through MSCABy mail: Option 2 of 2
Download, complete and mail the following forms to the address below:
Repayment Assistance Plan Application (PDF, 175 KB)
Disability Related Expense Form (PDF, 113 KB) to submit expenses related to your disability, and
Verification of Disability Form (PDF, 127 KB) (if asked)

To stay on RAP-D, reapply every 6 months. If your disability is not permanent, you may also need to confirm the status of your disability.
Note: Students with loans from Prince Edward Island must also apply through their province. Contact your provincial or territorial student aid office for more information.
You may qualify to have your loans cancelled if your disability prevents you from working. Please visit the Severe Permanent Disability Benefit for details.
