Message from the Chair

Publication date: 2018-08-29

Ted Hewitt, chair of the Canada Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) today released the following update on the work of the committee:

The work of the CRCC continues to address the priorities outlined in the open letter to committee members.

As you know, the Minister of Finance presented the Budget in February 2018. This budget announced investments in research and science of nearly $4 billion. This included funding directly linked to areas identified in the CRCC work plan, notably international and risky research; support for Canada's next generation of researchers; equity, diversity and inclusion; and indigenous research and capacity building.

CRCC committee members are eager to seize the opportunities presented by Budget 2018 and move forward with implementing the work plan. We are now discussing how the new funding will impact implementation of the CRCC priority deliverables.

I look forward to following-up on this in the coming weeks.
