Current statutory holidays
The designated paid holidays are:
- New Year’s Day
- Good Friday
- Easter Monday
- Victoria Day or National Patriot’s Day
- Canada Day
- Labour Day
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
- Thanksgiving
- Remembrance Day
- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day
- Provincial or civic holiday in the area where you are employed
Full-time employment and holiday pay
If you are an indeterminate full-time worker, you are paid for all statutory holidays.
If a holiday falls on your day of rest, the holiday is moved to your first scheduled working day following the day of rest.
If you are a casual or term employee working full-time, you must work the day immediately prior to or the day immediately following a statutory holiday to be eligible for holiday pay.

Leave without pay and holiday pay
If you are absent from work, on leave without pay for the full day immediately before and after a statutory holiday, you will not be entitled to be paid for the holiday. Part-time work and holiday pay
A part-time employee is not paid for designated holidays, but is instead paid a premium. Refer to the relevant authorities such as your collective agreement and the various terms and conditions of employment specific to your classification group for additional information.
Compressed work week and holiday pay
If you work a compressed work week, you must make up the time difference between the statutory holiday hours and your compressed hours. Verify with your manager or human resources as to the established practices in place in your department.
