Project description

Structural inspection of the boathouse, wharf and workshop had identified that the boathouse and wharf had reached the end of their service life. The boathouse and wharf were replaced with similar structures with a smaller footprint. The workshop foundation was rehabilitated to meet building code requirements.

In support of Indigenous reconciliation, the procurement process for construction was only open to Indigenous companies in accordance with the Set-aside Program for Indigenous Business. The project team had contacted and consulted with the local Dokis First Nation, as well as authorities having jurisdiction.

Construction began in fall 2023 and was completed in spring 2024. There were no impacts to dam operations during construction.

Benefits to Canadians

This project ensures reliable dam operations. The improvements to water management operations helps mitigate the impacts of increasingly frequent and intense weather events, which makes the environment safer for communities and contributes to climate change resiliency.
