Task and solutions professional services
Request for information
The task and solutions professional services (TSPS) request for information (RFI) ensures that the specific expertise exists within the TSPS supplier base. General use of the TSPS task-based categories or solution-based streams will not require a RFI.
When to use
A client department may use the RFI process when looking for a very specific expertise that they believe cannot be found in TSPS. Using a RFI is recommended to obtain an appropriate list of pre-qualified suppliers to work from.
How to use
Send the RFI by email to all the pre-qualified suppliers appearing on 1 of the following:
- category specific TSPS task-based search result list generated in the Centralized Professional Services System (CPSS) for TSPS task-based requirements
- stream specific TSPS solution-based search result list generated in the CPSS for TSPS solution-based requirements
Consult the following email template to ensure you’ve included the necessary information.

Subject: TSPS request for information
[name of department] is enquiring whether or not the following expertise can be found from the list of pre-qualified task-based professional services suppliers listed under Stream [enter stream number and name]: [enter category number and name], ([select 1 of: Junior, Intermediate, Senior] level).
The requirements
- [enter specific expertise or knowledge being requested] and
- [enter an estimated timeframe so suppliers can address their capacity to supply a resource]
Those suppliers who have the above requested expertise, please respond by return email by [insert date and time: 2 day turnaround time is recommended].
Responding to this enquiry does not guarantee to the suppliers an invitation for any future request for proposals (RFP) issued and/or subsequent contracts.
Solution-based requirement
Subject: TSPS request for information
[name of department] is enquiring whether or not the following expertise can be found from the list of pre-qualified solution-based professional services suppliers listed under Stream [enter stream number and name].
The requirements
- [enter specific expertise or knowledge being requested] and
- [enter an estimated timeframe so suppliers can address their capacity to supply a resource]
Those suppliers who have the above requested expertise, please respond by return email by [insert date and time: 2 day turnaround time is recommended].
Responding to this enquiry does not guarantee to the suppliers an invitation for any future request for proposals (RFP) issued and/or subsequent contracts.
If the email leads to no responses
Should the RFI yield no responses, please email TSPS at tpsgc.spts-tsps.pwgsc@tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca and provide the following:
- copy of the RFI email
- stream or category and level of expertise required
- dollar value of the requirement
- CPSS suppliers search results list
- statement of work (SOW)
- RFP (if applicable)
TSPS will review all documentation and explore the possibility of granting an exemption from using the method of supply for your requirement.
