Diverse pool of 17 fully qualified and assessed candidates at the EX-1 level now available (19-07)

To support public service renewal, the Public Service Commission of Canada recently conducted a collective recruitment process for EX-1 executives. This process invited all persons residing in Canada and Canadian citizens residing abroad to apply.

By issuing an external recruitment advertisement, we aimed to create a pool of qualified Canadians from a variety of backgrounds, accessible to all federal public service departments and agencies.

Today, we are pleased to announce that we have created a pool of 17 fully qualified candidates, after evaluating the 738 applications received and conducting 30 interviews.

The successful candidates have a degree from a recognized university, as well as experience in:

• directly managing a team and a budget
• managing a large project or program, establishing clear deliverables and objectives, and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders
• making presentations or providing briefings to senior management along with a good ability to communicate effectively in writing

Finally, all successful candidates demonstrate the key leadership competencies expected of EX-1 executives.

These qualified candidates include professionals with diverse expertise in human resources management, finance, communications, marketing and policy. Some of the candidates are officers of the Canadian Armed Forces in the field of aviation and scientific employment, and 2 candidates have experience only in the private sector.
