How does Canada monitor Marburg outbreaks?

Marburg virus disease has been nationally notifiable in Canada since 2000.

As a nationally notifiable disease, Marburg virus disease cases are reported to the Public Health Agency of Canada through national surveillance systems:

• Canadian Notifiable Disease Surveillance System - contains basic epidemiologic data dating back to 1924.

The Agency also works closely with its national and international partners, including the World Health Organization, to track Marburg outbreaks.
