Corporate and policy enablers: Security governance, policy, planning, oversight, and reporting

Key activities

• Assess the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of security programs, controls, and services to ensure consistency and compliance with security legislative, regulatory, and policy requirements.
• Provide strategic security advice and guidance, and liaise with government security community/ governance to validate legislative, regulation, and policy interpretation, and integrate any updates.
• Connect employees and managers to appropriate security control specialists.
• Support the development of departmental security policies, procedures, and plans as it relates to the Policy on Government Security and its eight (8) controls.
• Report on plans, strategic goals, and performance of security programs (e.g., departmental security plans, contribution to the Management Accountability Framework, performance management strategy, etc.) to assess security awareness level and compliance with Policy on Government Security and its eight (8) controls.
• Analyze and disseminate intelligence material and ensure its consideration and integration as appropriate into the organization’s security risk assessments and planning activities.
• Seek continuous opportunities to integrate security practices and concepts within departmental administration, operations, and business practices.
• Support the development, implementation, interpretation, and/or application of government and departmental security policies, standards and guidelines, and the Departmental Security Plan.
• Work with Lead Security Agencies and other government departments to exchange best practices and lessons learned.
