Rachel Lackey is a second year PhD candidate at McGill University in Earth and Planetary Sciences. Her research focuses on improving our understanding of hydrogeology in regions with permafrost, including understanding how groundwater systems will evolve with climate change. Through collaboration with community, territorial, and academic partners, Rachel has implemented a unique community-based northern groundwater monitoring network. Rachel hopes her research will expand groundwater knowledge in the Northwest Territories and across the Arctic. She is thrilled to be spending the upcoming summer in the NWT, based at the Aurora Research Institute. Outside of research Rachel loves to bike, knit, and read.
