Acts and Regulations
The Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA) and Regulations (CCCR) and the Criminal Records Act (CRA) and Regulations (CRR) make up the prescriptive legislative framework that guides PBC policies, operations and training on conditional release and criminal record suspension decision-making and clemency recommendations. The CCRA provides the legal framework for the correctional and conditional release system in Canada. The CRA provides the legal framework for the criminal record suspension system in Canada.
The Parole Board of Canada (PBC) is also guided in its mandate by the Criminal Code, the Letters Patent, and the Privacy and Access to Information Acts.

Regulatory Interpretation
In support of the Government of Canada's Red Tape Reduction Action Plan, the Parole Board of Canada is committed to further improving the accessibility of information and guidance on regulatory requirements that impact stakeholders.
Parole Board of Canada regulations generally deal with operational criminal justice matters, such as the operation of day and full parole reviews and operational considerations in determining recommendations on criminal record suspensions, and do not have an impact on business.
