Fortifications of Québec National Historic Site
The Fortifications of Québec National Historic Site commemorates the defence of Québec between 1608 and 1871. The fortifications encircling Upper Town over 4.6 kilometres make Québec the only fortified city north of Mexico. These imposing earth and stone works have earned the Historic District of Old Québec the distinction of being inscribed on UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites.

Project Name: Fortifications of Québec NHS - Walls - Rehabilitation
Estimated total: $52 M
Project Description: This additional investment in the fortifications of Québec will result in a more comprehensive rehabilitation and a complete restoration of the sections of the walls covered by the work and will improve the visitor experience by offering accessibility to new sectors. The work encompassed by this project includes the excavation of earth located at the back of the walls, the strengthening of the foundations, the management of the flow of water and the installation of a drainage system, the taking down and reassembly of the sections of walls that are in poor condition as well as the replacement of fractured stonework.
