Tireless efforts of Vancouver innovator are preventing fatigue-related injuries and saving lives

Fatigue Science’s cutting-edge technology is keeping workers safer.

Fatigue Science’s platform analyzes data like work hours, surveys, demographics, and optionally, sleep patterns. This helps predict the effects of sleep disruption on reaction time, cognitive effectiveness and performance. Their clients include leading global mining, industrial and transportation companies.

Fatigue Science’s platform provides supervisors with fatigue predictions for crew members, allowing them to schedule operators for critical, safety-sensitive tasks when they are the least fatigued. Companies are using the data to make informed decisions on which employees to assign critical tasks to and when, how much overtime to offer, when to schedule shifts and breaks, and how much to invest in wellness initiatives.

And it’s working. Fatigue Science has had a significant impact on both worker safety and business’ bottom line already, reducing fatigue-related incidents with all its customers. Case studies at two mines determined an estimated 26 per cent reduction in these events and improved output by $6 million per year. This earned the Vancouver-based company a National Safety Council award.

$300,000 in PacifiCan support allowed Fatigue Science to enhance and scale up its fatigue management information system platform, enabling more accurate and personalized predictions. This funding allowed the company to attend industry trade events, establish sales channel partnerships, and expand its sales and marketing activities.

Despite the challenges imposed by COVID-19, the company has achieved incredible heights since 2020:

  • increased annual recurring revenue by 217 per cent in target market
  • created 10 high quality jobs
  • extended its fatigue prediction window to 14 days or more, minimizing injuries, errors and burnout

We are thrilled and grateful for PacifiCan’s shared belief in our mission to enable safer and more productive working hours for all.
