Newly appointed Interim Ombuds, Robyn Hynes, shares a message with the Defence community

Ombuds’ message | 3 July 2024

I am pleased and honoured to be appointed as the Interim Ombuds for the Department of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). My one year term began on 2 July 2024.

With 10 years of experience as the Director General, Operations for the DND/CAF Ombudsman, I have had the privilege of meeting many members of the Defence community. In this role, I have gained invaluable insights into the unique challenges and issues you face. I know how important it is to ensure that members and their families are treated fairly.

I feel very fortunate to be part of an organization that is truly committed to making substantial and long-lasting improvements for the Defence community. I look forward to building on the work of the previous Ombudsman, Gregory Lick, and his predecessors.

Members of the Defence community, I invite you to contact us if you feel you have been treated unfairly, need information, or are uncertain about how to deal with an issue. There are several complaint mechanisms and means of recourse available to you. As always, we are here to help.

Thank you for trusting me with this important role.
