HMCS Trinity

There has been only one vessel named HMCS Trinity in the Royal Canadian Navy.

HMCS Trinity (157) / Bay-class minesweeper

In 1951 and 1952, fourteen ships of the Bay Class were ordered by the Royal Canadian Navy as replacements for the aging minesweepers of wartime construction. Six were transferred to the French Navy in 1954, but were replaced by six of the same name in 1956-1957, and four were transferred to the Turkish Navy in 1958 but were not replaced.

These ships were very similar to the Royal Navy’s Ton class of the same vintage. They had a wooden hull on aluminum framings and were propelled by Diesel engines.

Built by G. T. Davie & Sons, Lauzon, Quebec, HMCS Trinity was commissioned on June 16 1954 and serve from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was paid off on 21 August 1957 and was transferred to the Turkish Navy on 31 March 1958; she was renamed Terme.
