HMCS Adversus

There has been only one vessel named Adversus in the Royal Canadian Navy.

HMCS Adversus (J17)

Sister to Alachasse, Adversus was built as an RCMP patrol craft in 1931 in Orillia, ON. Adversus patrolled the East Coast until 1933 when she was transferred to the West Coast, becoming the first RCMP vessel to transit the Panama Canal. Adversus returned to the East Coast in 1937, and was transferred to the RCN in 1939, becoming HMCS Adversus. She served the RCN as a patrol craft on the east coast until 20 December 1941, when she was lost aground in a blizzard on McNutt’s Island, near Shelburne, NS. No lives were lost.
