Canadian Forces Integrated Relocation Program (CF IRP) – Temporary Dual Residence Allowance (TDRA) Policy Review

Topic

Canadian Forces Integrated Relocation Program (CF IRP) – Temporary Dual Residence Allowance (TDRA) Policy Review

Case number

Description

TDRA eligibility requires the listing price of a home to be “consistent” with both the appraisal and the market value.  This is a significant source of confusion for Canadian Armed Forces members attempting to set a fair and reasonable listing price while also maintaining their eligibility for TDRA.

Recommendation

The Committee recommended that the CF IRP -TDRA policy be reviewed to clarify the meanings of “actively marketed” and “consistent with”,   and to determine whether the listing price should continue to be required to be consistent with both the appraised value and the market conditions for TDRA eligibility.

Final Authority Decision

The FA agreed with the Committee's systemic recommendation and asked DGCB to review the wording of the TDRA to clarify the condition that must be met for CAF members to leverage this benefit.
