The grievor challenged the denial of a posting allowance for his relocation from Borden, Ontario to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan following a component transfer from the Reserve Force to the Regular Force. He argued that he had achieved career status in his Regular Force occupation, which entitled him to Canadian Forces Integrated Relocation Program (CFIRP) benefits, including posting allowance.

The Committee noted that the grievor had transferred from the Reserve Force to the Regular Force in the Infantry occupation at the rank of private. The following day, he was appointed to the rank of Officer Cadet, with simultaneous commissioning to the rank of second lieutenant in the Pilot occupation. The Committee concluded that this transfer process effectively made the grievor a Regular Force member for one day in the Infantry occupation, an occupation in which he had previously attained career status.

The Committee found that since the grievor had completed his basic military occupational training in the infantry trade, the Regular Force occupation to which he initially transferred, he was eligible for posting allowance in accordance with the CFIRP. Consequently, the Committee recommended that the Final Authority (FA) afford the grievor redress by granting him positing allowance in respect of his relocation from Borden to Moose Jaw.
